A package of four Democratic gun-control bills cleared the Colorado House on Monday and is headed to the Democrat-led Senate, where the votes could be close.

Senate committees could take them up as early as this week if they wanted. However, timing issues with other bills mean the gun bills could be delayed for weeks.

"I know they're coming, and I strongly suspect they'll get passed," Senate President John Morse, D-Colorado Springs, said of the bills. "But there's still a long way to go and a lot of conversation to be had."

The House on Monday gave final passage to the four bills, which:

• Limit gun magazines to 15 rounds.

• Require background checks for all gun transactions.

• Ban concealed weapons on college campuses.

• Impose a fee for gun buyers to cover the cost of their background checks.

I only have a real problem with number one.

Number two, if it involves sales between private citizens, is no different than a title transfer of a car. but it is intrusive.  I want professionals on college Campuses to have the guns. the average college student ( non-military, is an airhead socially ).

IF it truly costs for a background check, then what's the problem?

Otherwise, all colorado is good for is Skiing and hiking anyway.

leave the state.

It will be more dangerous there soon.  But they will never say we are right.

No, they will never say that - in fact we have current proof of what they will say.  Whenever they muck things up - they blame republicans amd/or conservatives.  So just know, it's our fault for their decisions to mak stupid laws when we tell them not to.  And I have a problem with all of them.  More encroachment on our ability to defend ourselves just inhes closer to total confiscation... although that one just might come from the feds instead of the states.

So everyone that is afraid of guns can now go live in DC and Colorado... move where you feel comfotable and leave places for others to make their choice of lifestyle - stop forcing us all to live exactly the same way!!!!

You forgot NYS.

James, you favor tyranny do you? ANY law restricting firearms is a violation of the 2nd Amendment. Our founders put it where they did for a reason, and it wasn't so I can hunt!!!! "Common sense gun laws" mean no guns for citizens. We call that canon fodder.

AMEN

You already pay for the background check when buying any kind of gun.  It has been this way for many years.  They are just throwing this in to disturb people.

I have a big problem with having to make a background check when making a private sale.  We have to much government in everything now.  I would never sell anything to someone that I did not know really well and I think that that is speaking for 99.99% of the people.  The criminals will never try to buy a weapon from a dealer and would not buy one from someone that was going to make a background check on them.  People need to wake up........obama and his people are setting us up so that they can come and take our weapons......some time not to far down the road.

Why can't most people realize that obama has ALWAYS BEEN AN ANTI-GUN MAN...ALWAYS....

In some states you can get your rights back after a few years.  I don't think that has changed.

You may want to check into that in your state.

And I absolutely agree with your words on obama.....he is taking us down much faster than I thought that he could.

Again, the people with their hands out voted him back in again.

Just because you're a convicted felon does not exempt you from having the right to defend yourself and freedom, in my view.  I have a step-nephew that has spent the last 6 years of his life because of a felony drug possession charge.  It was his first offense, he was young (22 years old), had a minor amount and had the book thrown at him.  Hell, he has done more time than some have for murder.  He's really a good guy and he could be trusted to own firearms.

Tony, many of us took the same oath and we will still back it up if need be.

You know Tony Ive always said whats gotta be done has gotta be done. Im sorry to hear about your loss. And whatever you did its over and done with. I myself served and have done things Im not proud of. In the line af duty and self defense and in the defense of others have, I guess theres no way to sugar coat it, taken life. Thankfully there were no innocent lives involved. Im certainly not proud of this revelation but you cant un-ring a bell. Its done and I cant change it. But should the need arise, God forbid, count me in. Laying all all jokes aside, Obama is making a serious mistake. So did those who voted for him. Im sure you as well as most of us on this post do not wish any harm on anyone, even Obama if he would just leave us alone. As with my guns, unless someone tries to harm me or those I care for, or even the innocent that I dont know, no one will ever know I have them. There is no pleasure in the taking of life, but if they come for us what choice do we have but to defend ourselves? Anyway thats my 2 cents worth. I look forward to talkin with you guys later.

I knew this guy from OK whos 16 y/o son was dating a 15 y/o girl. They had started liking each other in the 6th grade. She got pregnant at 17---he turned 18. Then what? The state of OK prosecuted him for statutory rape. His parents, the girl, even her parents, who liked the kid, tried to stop the state from prosecuting the boy. He was convicted and sent to prison and is required to register as a sex offender. Fortunately she stayed with him through it all and theyre still together to this day. Twelve years now. OK sux. I hate that state with a passion.
