Clueless Repubs to Dems: “Please Like Us – We’re Just Like You!”

tgIn the wake of a second presidential election loss in 2012, Republicans went back to the drawing board looking for a more effective way to present themselves and their message. Now a brand new ad campaign has been launched which demonstrates that Republicans are even more clueless about selling themselves today than they were two years ago and four years before that. The pathetic message this disastrous adseems to be sending on behalf of Republicans is this: “Hey Democrats, please like us – we’re just like you!”

The 97-second ad, part of a campaign from GOP strategist Vinny Manchillo, a former member of Mitt Romney’s team, seeks to dispel hateful stereotypes of the right by humanizing Republicans and presenting them as victims of liberal bullying. Here is the message at the campaign’s website,

It isn’t easy being a Republican these days.

There are people who will stick up for Genghis Khan before they’ll defend a Republican. (“Genghis was just misunderstood.”)

We love political discourse. We encourage political discourse. But when did “Republican” become a dirty word?

Here’s the deal: before you post another bullying comment, think about this:

Republicans are people, too.

The ad itself is backed by an upbeat soundtrack of guitar and hand claps accompanying images of Republicans of all colors and walks of life – acting like Democrats. A man stands proudly beside his car, for example, with a legend underneath that reads, “Republicans drive Priuses.” So right out of the gate it’s cringe-inducing, and it doesn’t improve from there. “Republicans recycle… Republicans read the New York Times… Republicans put together IKEA furniture… Republicans shop at Trader Joe’s… Republicans use Macs… Republicans enjoy gourmet cooking.” And just when you think, This can’t get any worse, it gets worse: “Republicans have feelings… Republicans are people who care… Republicans are people too.”

This is war. We must regain our self-respect, get off the ropes and go on offense. To paraphrase General Patton, who knew a thing or two about kicking the enemy’s ass, no bastard ever won a war by pleading with the enemy to be treated nicer. You win it by making the other poor dumb bastard plead with you to be treated nicer.

Instead of presenting ourselves as lukewarm Democrats so that we will be liked, let’s brazenly embrace who we are and what we believe. In addition to going for the left’s jugular with ads that expose their collectivist, racist, big government, anti-liberty philosophy, how about a 97-second ad that sells conservative qualities and ideals, and makes them so appealing and compelling that liberals and independents wish they were us? The message should be, “Proud to be conservative!” not “I can’t be all bad – I read the New York Times!” The message should be “We can make America strong and free again,” not “I drive a Prius because I’m an emasculated conformist too!”

It’s long past time for the right to snap out of our punch-drunk daze and take the fight to the progressives. We either stand unapologetically for our values and our beliefs, or surrender.

The puppet masters are driving WTP, via government ineptness, into a third party Tea Party hoping to induce dilution plaguing third parties. Defeating this shenanigan means we have to form, and run a third party into consensus before election day and win. IMHO, Ben Carson could pull it off...Semper Fi Nam 66-67

There doesn't apear to be a single Republican - in a leadership position - with a plan to take the fight to the Democrats; nor, with the pair of cajones necessary to do so!

We MUST change that!  Before there will ever be another chance for a Conservative government in this country.

Every time the RNC calls me for donations I say the same thing to them "who the Hell are you? What do you stand for?" until they are willing to turn their attrition back to making America  a constitutional country, I have no use for them. I do support candidates who stand on the constitution and Tea party base by donating to them directly.

No we're nothing like the democrats nor do we want to be confused as democrats!

the video isn't that bad -- IF it is just a "meet and greet" kinda blurb... but, if the Republicans are going to say they are sorry for what they are, they need a new campaign/strategists in their midst.  Next one should be of a different nature

Well, if one is a RINO, then the statement "We're just like you" is accurate; RINOs ARE exactly like democrats AND just as evil.  Time for ALL OF THEM to go!

Just stand for the rule of law.   Our COnstitution.     Jobs.    If the economy gets better... the people will follow.    Every program the Dems initiate leads to paths of total rot for the American people.   Produce a govt that will get out of the way.... Let us work,  build,  protect our family and country.

Repubs are really starting to act like a bunch of sissy's that need to be taught to act like their positions warrant.

Gohmert: Dems Will Drag Out Impeachment — Try To Get ‘Best Socialist’ Nominated For President

During an appearance on Huntsville, AL radio’s WVNN on Thursday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) offered his best assessment of what House Democrats were trying to accomplish with their impeachment efforts.

Gohmert told WVNN’s “The Jeff Poor Show” impeachment could tie up the Democratic Party’s presidential campaign efforts but predicted Democrats would use the occasion to nominate “the best socialist” they can.

“They would lose in the Senate,” Gohmert said on impeachment. “And besides that, the entire time it was on trial in the Senate, the Democrats who are running for president wouldn’t be allowed to campaign. That’s in the Constitution. They wouldn’t be able to campaign. I just can’t imagine them wanting to do that because if they send it to the Senate, they have now perfectly set up the scenario of 1996, where they will reassure Donald Trump is reelected as president. They don’t want to do that. They’re probably going to drag this thing out as long as they possibly can … through Iowa, through primaries — try to get the best socialist they can to be nominated.”

“Then just end up and say, ‘Now we’re close enough to the general election. We’ve thrown mud at the president through the House,’” he continued. “What they’re really doing — they’re using taxpayer funds to campaign against Trump. That’s all this is — a campaign fund that taxpayers are paying for in order to try to throw mud at the president. I’ll be surprised if they have that vote, but I can’t imagine they want to set up this president for reelection by having a trial in the Senate where they lose.”
