Another Way to Fund Trump’s Wall: Interdict Drug Cartels’ Cash Flowing Into Mexico

With the announcement by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday that sites have already been selected to start building the wall across the country’s southern border came increased concerns about how it was going to be paid for. Said the DHS:

CBP [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] is taking immediate action in response to the president’s executive order. We have identified locations near El Paso, Texas, Tucson, Arizona, and El Centro, California, where we will build a wall in areas where the fence or old brittle landing-mat fencing are no longer effective.

The Border Patrol is also in the midst of an operational assessment, which will identify priority areas where CBP can build a wall or similar physical barrier on the border where it currently does not exist….

CBP has identified funding [sufficient] to begin immediate construction and is working with the Administration in these efforts.

The executive order “Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements,” dated January 25, was equally vague about where the money would come from. The secretary of the DHS, John Kelly, was ordered to “identify and … allocate all sources of Federal funds” for the wall’s construction. Following the DHS announcement on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer made passing reference to the question: “Right now, ICE and DHS in particular, as well as DBP, are looking at what this is going to cost.” That will be followed by “then figuring out how much can be handled through reallocation of resources and how much we can save maybe in other areas, but also work with Congress.”

Translation: The U.S. taxpayer will be paying for the wall, not Mexico, at least in the beginning, still leaving open the question of just where the balance of the estimated $20 billion construction costs will come from, exactly.

Some appears to be coming out of the DHS budget, currently at $41 billion. Some could be borrowed if Congress is amenable. Some could come from the budgets of the states most directly impacted by illegal immigration: Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Some could come from some sort of as-yet-undefined “border tax” on imports from Mexico. Some could come from cutting U.S. foreign aid to Mexico. Some could come from funds illegals already in the states are sending back to their families in Mexico.

But according to John Cassara, all of this is way too complicated. Just ramp up efforts to enforce another executive order signed by the president on February 9, “Enforcing Federal Law with Respect to Transnational Criminal Organizations and Preventing International Trafficking”:

It shall be the policy of the executive branch to … strengthen enforcement of Federal Law in order to thwart … illicit activities … for example: the illegal concealment or transfer of proceeds derived from such illicit activities.

Cassara knows what he is talking about. Retired after 26 years in federal law enforcement, he is one of very few to have been both a clandestine operations officer in the U.S. intelligence community and a special agent for the Department of the Treasury. Wrote Cassara in the Washington Times:

Half a decade ago, a 2010 White House study pegged the rough number [for the drug trade] at $109 billion annually. Today, that number is doubtless higher.

Because of the crackdown and money laundering laws, cartels are moving between $18 billion and $39 billion of the proceeds of that drug trade in the form of bulk paper money. Wrote Cassara, “The process has gone industrial — which is exactly why it is the right avenue for recouping the money needed to build the wall.”

Just interdicting 10 percent of the lower estimate would, according to Cassara, generate $2 billion: “In ten years, [even] without increased efficiency, we would have the $20 billion needed to fund the wall — and likely take a bite out of drug trafficking, drug trafficker wealth, and domestic addiction in the process. That is what casual observers would call a win-win-win.”

Jim Comey just made an Earth-Shattering announcement.  He stated  " Drug Use was due to the Drugs from Mexico".     No kidding, my question to him would be either what Planet has he been on, or what is he smoking?  You can't make this up!!!!

Dir. Comey is either incompetent or deliberately engaging in dissimulation ... too, keep the public misinformed and the FBI confused on its mission as the primer law enforcement agency in the Federal Government if not the world.  He should be announcing the arrest and indictment of major political figures... for corruption and crimes against the people.

If Trump doesn't remove him we will not see Hillary behind bars.. and the chants of 'lock her up' will have made no lasting impression on the political class.  In fact, the Establishment will be further embolden to engage in criminal conduct and Trump's presidency will be in greater jeopardy than ever.  The Swamp will not be Drained... it will grow exponentially.

Comey could have at least clarified whether there is an active criminal investigation going on OR a "gathering of information" as part of their usual process. This point was brought out on Dobbs one night. If a criminal investigation, there are consequences. If it is just gathering information, there is nothing to look at.

And I will plainly state that Comey should be fired. And it should have been done the first week of Trump's administration.

Been fooling you and Col. didn't want to butt in today, was afraid I might overload in my comments. You both make me proud were all Patriots.
I'm so angry about how Sessions and Trump are being treated, Republican rinos have hid in the corners afraid to do battle with these communist demonrats especially the traitor Schumer. They need to call demonrats out on all their behaviors the past 8 years but they won't. As for Comey, I wish he would simply disappear, I think Trump made a huge mistake with keeping him in the administration.
Trillions of $$ are missing under the queer crackheads watch and countless overt felonies have been committed and Republicans just want to talk. I've always said I don't know a politican that I would trust and we have lots and lots of strong trees throughout the land, we should make good use of them. All of you at TPCC keep your powder dry.
Off subject, check out McNaughtons latest litho print of Washington in prayer, utterly fantastic.

Not fooling following you, this damn smart phone like to replace words, nots so smart phone.

and I will admit, going to D.C. and doing some housecleaning as a large group, would do wonders for giving power to the people.

........  .

Philip   I appreciate your comment. We are all in this together, screaming for this country to be healed, wishing we could all do more. You are a great patriot yourself, as is the Col.

Sometimes, I just think all we have is prayer. Pray that Trump and his administration, not only seeks spiritual guidance, but also constitutional guidance, and also that he realizes that he must never compromise on anything. That he learns to attack continually and never sit back. Like God said, "Attack the Amalikites, every last one."  In our time, both the r's and d's are the Amalikites.

Take no prisoners. He really needs to arm up fully and engage with a full on attack, calling out all sides of this evil, media, R's and D's.

Thanks for kind words Jea9, I will add prayer is good, and it works very well when we put legs on those prayers. I came from a long line of Patriot warriors, I was taught that in WWII father was in the South Pacific campaigns praying and asking his family for prayers and his return, mother and grandparents prayed for their fighting spirit and the win against Japanese Imperialism in the islands. Every generation of fighting men and women are those very legs for so many prayers. I taught my children this same principle from my experience
In VietNam, the fire service, law enforcement and specialty security forces. Non of these fields can be victorious without prayer and legs always highlight them.
TPCC is a good activist group of very like-minded patriots my prayers that those of us that are able become active in those ways that we are called. Today Patriots are meeting in 60 US cities for Spirit of America, let us pray for them as we do our Soldiers Sailors, Airmen, Marines Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Law Enforcement And Fire Service.

God Bless America and the State of Israel

Live Free or Die

The men in my family and extended family all served in WWII. All came home healthy except the one I never met, who shot down a Jap plane at Pearl Harbor and was then sent to the Solomon Islands where he contracted malaria, which then became leukemia. My Mother's favorite brother, a man's man. Hunter, fisher, hunting dog trainer, skinner, mechanic and more. Hills of West Virginia, a good place to raise great people. :)

And Amen to your prayers, Philip.

Angry Dem Impeachment ‘Witness’: Pam Karlan Donated Thousands To Hillary And Was On Clinton’s List For Potential SCOTUS Nomination

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jerrold Nadler, kicked off its first impeachment circus Wednesday morning.

The four ‘witnesses’ testifying have never actually witnessed any of Trump’s dealings with Ukraine firsthand — the four witnesses are law professors offering legal analysis.

One of the witnesses the Dems rolled out is an angry Hillary Clinton donor who was on Crooked’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination.

No wonder why this unhinged, dowdy woman is so pissed off!

“Professor Pam Karlan donated thousands of dollars to Democrats and was on Hillary Clinton’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination. So she certainly has no vendetta against President Trump,” GOP Rep. Mark Walker said.

Congressman Walker also pointed out that Noah Feldman, the Dems first partisan witness in Wednesday’s hearing tweeted about impeaching Trump right after he was sworn in.

Meet Noah Feldman, House Democrats first partisan witness.

Look at the date of this tweet. He has been trying to get @realDonaldTrump impeached since 46 days into his presidency.

His reason? Trump criticized President Obama.

This is a sham impeachment with sham witnesses. https://twitter.com/NoahRFeldman/status/839185127494254592

The next witness, Karlan, has donated thousands to Democrats and was on Hillary Clinton’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination.

So she certainly has no vendetta against @realDonaldTrump.

These witnesses are as serious as House Democrats impeachment case: not at all.

The entire sham show trial is stacked with partisan hacks who have wanted to impeach Trump from the moment he won in November of 2016.

Norm Eisen, the Democrats’ counsel who is blasting Trump and questioning witnesses in Wednesday’s show trial, tweeted about impeaching Trump before Donald Trump was even sworn into office!
