In a statement, Sharpton blasted the film industry for what he called its “fraudulent image of progressive and liberal politics and policies,” and said the nominations were a reflection of “the fact that there are few if any blacks with real power in Hollywood.”
“Hollywood is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher up you get the whiter it gets and this year’s Academy Awards will be yet another Rocky Mountain Oscars,” Sharpton said in a statement obtained by the Hollywood Reporter. “Yet again, deserving Black actors and directors were ignored by the Academy — which reinforces the fact that there are few if any Blacks with real power in Hollywood.”
All white Oscar nominations are another example of the lack of diversity in Hollywood. Like the Rocky Mts. The higher u climb the whiter.— Reverend Al Sharpton (@TheRevAl) January 14, 2016
HOW ABOUT WE CHANGE THE OSCAR TO THE AL SHARPTON?
The harder you work, the higher you climb.
Lets start a new category called "Monkey Movies" and also a new type of Oscar. They want all of our laws changed to suit their opinion to what is or what isn't a crime and change our entire judiciary to fit their demands. So, we'll just start a new Oscars for blacks only.
A little math for the Rev...per http://quickfacts.census.gov
Blacks comprise 13.2% of the US population. Whites are 77%. Which group is more likely to have a larger representative slice in Hollywood?
And, Al, there are more blacks on the big (and small) screen than I've ever seen. Really, you should stop whining about inequality and figure out how to pay your outstanding taxes, a-hole.
Yeah Hollywood don't you know that Tawana Brawley deserves to be nominated for best actress in her staring role as the Rape victim in the now famous classic 'Raped at 15 and still looking' Black victim category. Or, the recent epic and classic on Police Violence in the Black Justice in the Ghetto, Category.. an epic documentary, starring the late Michael Brown, a some time innocent, convence store, strong arm robber in the local hood; who, upon turning black activist and police antagonist, found himself thrust into his now famous posthumous roll..
Seeing there are many more monumental and epic acts by a host of Black talent... it is time to call for a DOJ investigation into the scheming racist and white trash running Hollywood. It is time for affirmative action in the Actors Guild; as the Black talent in America, burns down their own neighborhoods, looking for a little recognition... Just think, of what the next generation of looters and rioters, Black Actors and aspiring activist, can learn from their past, thru such Cinematropic events as Burning Down Watts, or Baltimore's 6, and Chicago's East Side goes rogue... all at the direction of such Black talent as Rodney King, the sometime misunderstood, giant, drug abuser or Reverend AL Sharpton, renowned agitator and social justice, director.
Yes Hollywood must pay... for their past neglect and abuse.
GREAT TRY AL BUT WHAT ABOUT THE THREE WHITE ONLY CANDIDATES FOR DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT.
