White House Leaks: What Does Axelrod Know, and How Does He Know It?

So is David Axelrod now in charge of the investigation into the May-June leaks that have jeopardized our troops and undermined our national security in what is arguably the single greatest breach of sensitive national security information in the modern era? Or has Axelrod, the top adviser at Obama’s re-election campaign, merely been briefed on the status of that investigation--ahead of the proper authorities, and ahead of the general public?

In any case, how could it be that a political operative is now speaking out on perhaps the most sensitive national security matters that the nation confronts?  These questions come to mind in the wake of Axelrod’s Wednesday appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Host Joe Scarborough said to Axelrod--in a statement, not a question--“It is very obvious that the White House is leaking classified information.” And how, exactly, did Axelrod respond?

Axelrod answered, “I can tell you that the president of the United States did not leak classified information, as Mitt Romney suggested yesterday, and he didn’t authorize the leak of information, as Mitt Romney suggested yesterday.”

Romney had, indeed, delivered a stinging attack on the leaks, declaring in a speech to the VFW on Tuesday, “This conduct is contemptible. It betrays our national interest.” Clearly, those words from the Republican challenger had rattled both the White House and the Obama re-election campaign. Thus, Axelrod was on TV the very next day, battling back. Axelrod’s message was intended to be political pacification: in effect, he was saying, Hey, folks, don’t worry about the leak issue; these are just partisan attacks from Barack Obama’s Republican opponent. So there’s nothing to see here, other than the usual political bickering.

But in fact, Axelrod’s words on “Morning Joe” represented a significant backpedaling for Axelrod, who on June 10 had told ABC News that the White House, as a whole--beyond just the President specifically--was not involved in the leaks. Interestingly, in that appearance, we can see that Axelrod continuously used the word “we” in referring to the White House. For a man who left the White House staff in February 2011--giving up his security clearance and thus all access to classified materials--Axelrod certainly sounded as if he were still working in the building. Let’s pause here. Eighteen months after leaving the White House, Axelrod is still able to give precise and informed commentary on a serious legal investigation. The new position, of as July 25, is that Axelrod can attest only to the President’s personal non-involvement in the leaks, as distinct from the rest of the White House.

Time for "We the People" to take action..the gutless "wonders" in DC won't..treason is treason and correcting that inaction should trump everything else before they do even more destruction.

I agree Carl. Boehner is a worthless piece of S***. He so needs to be kicked to the curb. He's a spineless failure & needs to learn how to be a man. Maybe he should start hanging out w/ West

They have been busy lying and they will get caught eventually. However not before we are no longer a free nation but a tyranny ruling the world according to the rantings of Liberal jackasses who have never learned from history, only about it. They know damn good and well that disarming the people will subject all to their stupid ideology that is as old as history itself.

Axelrod the Fox checking out the Hen house?

I am suspect of people who ignore the subject and attack republicans with innuendos.  The leaks of classified information are coming from the OBAMA White House and his minion, AXELROD is doing a cover up.  Why attack Boehner, the Republican Speaker of the House when there is the opportunity to speak out against the ENEMY the Obama and Axelrod?  What is the definition of a troll?

Putting Axlerod in charge of this invesigation is nothing more than Obama sitting down and telling him exactly what to say.

The Chicago team knows and uses every trick in the book as well as the chapters they added to it.  There is nothing they won't say or do to win this election.   Their deviousness is frightening, as this election is very crucial to the future of our country.

Romney must use any and all information weapons that are at his disposal.  He cannot continue to step back and not get his hands dirty dealing with the real dirt that Obama is buried in.  We will be forever suffering the consequences of Gentleman John McCain's polite handling of the issues instead of getting down and dirty when it was necessary.

America does not have time for reliving the unnerving frustration of watching Mr. McCain throw away our future by refusing to expose the darker side of Obama's reality.  He handed the election to Obama in the name of political correctness, by deferring to the black man as the white man's guilt is supposed to owe him.  it is time for this destructive mentality to end.

They are dragging their feet on this and letting a campaign advisor  dictate how the investigation goes forward. A matter, mind you,in my opinion that is the most serious in nature that is bigger than Watergate or fast and furious cannot be in the hands of a "Campaign Advisor" .This shows complete incompetence in Washington. There was no more than 20 people directly involved in those operations so common sense says you go to the twenty.Stop treading water and just do it!What I wanna know is why is this taking so long?Heads should be rolling and arrests should be ongoing.

Really axelrod?,..That is not what Diane Feinstein(d-ca),who is on the intelligence commitee thinks!,what an obvious fidiot!,..

Yes.................this dirt bag is the one who got his blonde apartment neighbor to lie on Cain.

These Obama men are nothing but street thugs. liars, all of them, using the system. Valerie Jarrett got stimulus money for the school her parents founded in Chicago. Yea, all of his buddies profited from the stimulus. SICK

Not one in Obama's cabinet are honest, but then the left does not care about honesty, look at how the left main steam media has tried to lie about what Obama said about 'if you have a business you did not build it."  All of them have tried to spin that lie that it was taken out of context.  Liars, all of the.

ALERT ALERT

Romney Handed Shock
Defeat By Own State’s GOP

Mitt Romney is back in state politics, this time in Utah instead of Massachusetts. However, conservatives in The Beehive State aren’t exactly warming up to the 2012 Republican standard-bearer quite the way many people expected they would.

After finishing second in votes at the state GOP convention, Romney will now face a primary in his run for the Senate seat being vacated by Orrin Hatch, Fox News reported.

At the convention in West Valley City on Saturday, Romney polled just behind state lawmaker Mike Kennedy.

Kennedy captured 50.18 percent of the delegate vote compared to Romney’s 49.12 percent.

That means the two will face off in a primary on June 26 to determine who will represent the GOP this fall.

Romney, the first Mormon to head a major party ticket, is considered an extremely popular figure in Utah and was widely expected to have an easy path to the upper chamber.

In a hypothetical matchup with Democrat Jenny Wilson, at least one poll showed Romney up by 46 percent. That’s, uh, slightly more than the margin of error.

However, among party loyalists, Romney isn’t exactly viewed with unalloyed fondness.

The 2012 presidential nominee was always known for being decidedly moderate, particularly on issues of immigration and global trade. There was also the fact that he ran a campaign so bumbling that it almost made Michael Dukakis look good.

And then there was Romney’s war of words with Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, which likely led many to perceive he secretly wished Hillary Clinton would take the Oval Office.

Trump would later consider Romney as a secretary of state pick, although how serious the president-elect was about appointing him is something we’ll likely never know.

While your average Utah Republican is unlikely to let these slights affect their vote, hardcore party activists probably don’t want another RINO who isn’t exactly known for his rapport with the president in the upper chamber of Congress, no matter how famous he may be.

For his part, Romney tried to put a good spin on the humiliation.

“I’m delighted with the outcome. Did very, very well,” he told KSTU. “On to a good, important primary ahead. This is terrific for the people of Utah.”

Dude, you just lost to a guy nobody has ever heard of. However, Kennedy was happy with the results, and unlike Romney, he had good reason to be.

“I’m a candidate with a compelling life story and a unique set of life circumstances I’d like to use to serve the people of Utah,” Kennedy said.

I have no idea what that story or those circumstances are, but I think the key point here is that he’s not Mitt Romney. If he wants to win, that’s pretty much what he should be focusing on. I can see the billboards now. “Mike Kennedy: Not Mitt Romney.” “Mike Kennedy: He didn’t borrow Ward Cleaver’s haircut.” “Mike Kennedy: Because Utah deserves a senator whose favorite food isn’t buttered noodles.”

Utah’s electorate tends to be less conservative than convention-goers, so it’s unlikely that Romney won’t be the GOP nominee for Senate. However, that’s not a 100 percent certainty — and it wouldn’t be the first time he’s lost to a Kennedy.

What do you think?
