Did The United Nations Just Call For The Decriminalization Of All Drugs?

News circulated Monday morning that the United Nations had officially called for the decriminalization of all drugs in a brief, two-page report. Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin, hinted on Sunday that the announcement would be made, but by Monday morning, the U.N. announced it had no such intention and that the document merely reflected the author’s opinion. Even so, the BBC and Branson himself suggest the document was withdrawn following resistance from at least one country.

As Richard Branson wrote in a blog post before the official release of the report:

In an as-yet unreleased statement circulated to the BBC, myself and others, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which has shaped much of global drug policy for decades, call on governments around the world to decriminalise drug use and possession for personal consumption for all drugs.”

The report was to be released at an international harm reduction conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Branson continued:

It’s exciting that the UNODC has now unequivocally stated that criminalisation is harmful, unnecessary and disproportionate, echoing concerns about the immense human and economic costs of current drug policies voiced earlier by UNAIDS, the World Health Organisation, UNDP, The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Women, Kofi Annan and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.”

However, Branson, a long-time opponent of the Drug War, wrote that as he drafted his blog post, the briefing had already drawn harsh opposition. “But as I’m writing this,” he said, “I am hearing that at least one government is putting an inordinate amount of pressure on the UNODC.”

He concluded:

Let us hope the UNODC, a global organisation that is part of the UN and supposed to do what is right for the people of the world, does not do a remarkable volte-face at the last possible moment and bow to pressure by not going ahead with this important move.”

By Monday, the U.N. had disputed Branson’s announcement of the document. The briefing paper on decriminalisation mentioned in many of today’s media reports, and intended for dissemination and discussion at a conference in Kuala Lumpur, is neither a final nor formal document … and cannot be read as a statement of UNODC policy,” a spokesperson announced.

Legalizing all drugs will make it so much easier to control the people.

Get out of the U.N. now ! Most member countries can't run their own business ,then we sure don't need them to screw up ours. Washington can manage to do that by themselves, thank you. We need to also remove the operation out side U.S. shores. Why do we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot????? Let's get our mess cleaned up and other countries will come to us when they need help. We have managed to allow Obama to destroy Egypt ,Libya, Iraq and now he's trying the same thing on Israel  .The whole world knew the problem was Iran but no Muslim will ever deal with it. So we destroy nation after nation (Washington Style) to make believe we are doing something about the problem? This is why we need a Leader that deals with the problem . Doesn't go all the way around the barn ,playing fun and games, costing needless lives, pretending to be doing something . In other words "A REAL LEADER" . This is why MR TRUMP is leading in All the poles. People see a person that speaks the truth, takes the necessary action and solves the problem.People are fed up with lies ,promises, issue after issue unresolved, never a done deal. See the problem through to a successful conclusion. Mr. TRUMP is one who shows these skills. GO MR.TRUMP we will support you because you do what you promise.

The UN was spawned by the Psychopath, Inbred New World Order as was the Fed..Almost all Politicians including the Presidents are sock puppets of the NWO...they're implementing Agenda 21...Eugenics to cull the human herd 95%...the remainder will be their useful idiots or slaves.

I recall decriminalizing Heroin in the Netherlands..1000's of lives were destroyed...They had what was called...Needle Park where people would shoot up....many OD'ed, contracted Hepatitus, Aids.... Legaliizing Pot and going after the far more dangerous drugs like Meth and Heroin and the dealers  works for me.

If they didn't they sure as hell need to .Concedering that it was them that Started the so called illegal War on druges in the first place . More inocent lives have been runied by this phoney war then the druges have. More lives , more property and way more money have been lost. it is a shame that some choose to waste their lives on this . But the choice is a moral and personal choice and if that is what they choose to do then that is their choice .

John,  It may be their choice but the repercussions of their choice needs to be considered.  Many addicts steal & murder to feed their choice (habit) not discounting those that get high & drive.  Their choice puts us all at risk.

What a bunch idiots.

Ret, Would you want a blue helmet in your foxhole?

Not unless it had a bunch of holes with brain matter splattered out the other side.

Let's play the word association game. I say "UN" and you say,???? The first word that comes to mind is, FRAG........

Oops. Sorry. That's two words.
Fireforeffect. That's one word.
I was thinking UN leadership.

SICK: New Jersey Awarded $3.8 Million In Financial Aid To Illegal Aliens

A local news report revealed that the state of New Jersey awarded $3.8 million in financial aid to illegal immigrants during the 2018-2019 school year.

According to a report from NJ.com, the state of New Jersey gave $3.8 million in financial aid to 749 illegal immigrant students in the last academic year. More than a quarter of the funding went to 328 illegal immigrants that attend Rutgers University.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a law last year that allowed illegal immigrants to apply for financial aid. Prior to the signing, illegal immigrants were permitted to apply to pay in-state tuition at public universities but they were not eligible for financial aid.

Murphy, who supports the spending, hit back at Republican critics by arguing that giving financial aid to illegal immigrants is compatible with American values.

“I’d even invite any of those folks who have that attitude, beginning with our president, to come on into this room and allow me or any of us to say, ‘This is the United States of America,’” Murphy said at the time.

David J. Socolow, executive director of the state’s Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, defended the state’s decision to offer financial aid to illegal immigrants.

“This financial assistance offers these New Jersey students a life-changing opportunity,” Socolow said in a brief comment.“The successes of these first 513 students, who are now attending county colleges, state colleges and universities, and independent institutions around the state, will have a positive impact on countless additional lives.”

According to the report, there is currently no limit on the amount of illegal immigrant students that are permitted to receive financial aid from the state of New Jersey. State lawmakers forecast that they will spend approximately $5 million on financial aid for illegal immigrants each year.
