Ex-UN President Arrested, Charged For Accepting $1.3MM in Bribes

john ashe UN president exToday US authorities charged former United Nations General Assembly President John Ashe with accepting over a million dollars in bribes from Chinese real estate mogul Ng Lap Seng in exchange for lucrative government contracts.

More via Fox News:

In exchange for the money, federal prosecutors say Ashe used his position as Permanent Resident to the United Nations for Antigua and Barbuda and General Assembly head to introduce a U.N. document in support of a real estate project being developed by Chinese billionaire Ng Lap Seng.

Prosecutors say some of the bribe money was used to pay for Ashe’s family vacation and to construct a basketball court at his home in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. He opened two bank accounts to receive the funds and then underreported his income by more than $1.2 million, officials said.

“There is a lot more work to do,” Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, told reporters on Tuesday when asked about the probe. He said more charges were possible, adding, “We will be asking the question: Is bribery business as usual at the U.N.?”

Ashe was arrested today; Ng was already being held, and five others have also been arrested in connection with the scheme. At least one other diplomat, Francis Lorenzo of the Dominican Republic, is also being held, along with two naturalized citizens who were living in China and who officials suspect were helping push the deals through.

They need to go after the ones in there now, especially the ones dealing with Iran.

The UN has always been a criminal gang.  The UN must be eliminated.

I agree Steven!

Why am I not surprised?  We are supposed to hand over our country to these den of vipers with the New World Order? We will need divine intervention help to rid the world of all the corruption.  Satan is winning this round.

Remember Kofi Anan? The oil for arms deals. The U.N. Is a commie global cesspool.

and that is news?

Only 1.3 million... they didn't look into his conduct very deep.  I am surprised he was charged at all.  He must have pissed off some other UN official by not including him in on the graft.  Obama probably didn't get his cut.

Am I supposed to be surprised? NOT.

WE NEED TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THE UN...All this action being taken to change our money, telling us how we can live with what we make.  Bull Crap!!!  If is ALL A PART TO THE UN AGENDA 21 and not enough people are listening, reading about, or screaming at Congress to GET US OUT OF THE UN.

I'm sorry but I have lost all hope.  The US pays almost 40% (or more) of the UN budget and this former President STOLE MONEY - AND THAT MONEY WAS US TAX PAYER MONEY.  Not enough people are caring enough to find out,and know what is happening in Washington, and WE ARE LOSING OUR BUTTS to the world, right now we are having UN Investigators going into our cities, and next will be the hob nail boots of the UN Military.  It has been confirmed that ISIS has crossed our Southern border and are now in the U.S.  THOUSANDS of Syrians are coming into our Country and I just read that the Government is using Flash Cards in Spanish to assist ILLEGAL ALIENS in passing the Citizenship test.

We either stop what we are doing and the direction we are headed, or we're going right into hell.

He should be in the US Congress. They do that all the time and they're not in prison.

SICK: Leprosy On The Rise In Los Angeles

Ahh, the joys of open borders and Democrat leadership.

California is not just a public toilet but now there is evidence that leprosy is on the rise in Los Angeles County.

Barack Obama changed US law in 2016 and allowed immigrants with blistering STDs and leprosy to migrate to the US.

Medscape reported:

Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, is rarely seen in the United States, but cases continue to emerge in Los Angeles County, a new report says.

“Hansen’s disease still exists, and we need to educate medical students and physicians,” coauthor Dr. Maria Teresa Ochoa from Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, told Reuters Health by email.

Dr. Ochoa and colleagues identified 187 patients with the disease in a review of medical records from their leprosy clinic spanning 1973 to 2018. Most patients were Latino, originating from Mexico, and they experienced a median delay in diagnosis of more than three years, the team reports JAMA Dermatology, online August 7.

Multibacillary leprosy (MB) cases outnumbered paucibacillary leprosy (PB) cases by nearly eight to one (88.6% vs. 11.4%, respectively), and Latino patients were more likely than non-Latino patients to have MB, as were patients from Central or South America (versus other regions).

Most patients (80.7%) received multidrug therapy, and most (92.6%) received antibiotics for more than two years, especially if they had MB.

Only about half of patients (56.7%) had World Health Organization (WHO) grade 0 disability (no signs or symptoms suggestive of leprosy or disability) at the one-year follow-up, whereas 16.0% had grade 1 disability (loss of protective sensation) and 26.2% had grade 2 disability (visible deformity) at the last follow-up.

Among the patients who lost protective sensation, 87.7% (50/57) did not regain it following therapy.
