House votes down ObamaCare’s 30-hour workweek, 252-172

The House on Thursday in a 252-172 vote approved legislation that would waive fees on businesses that do not offer health insurance to employees working fewer than 40 hours per week.

The legislation – which has been at the center of a heavy corporate lobbying campaign – only received 12 Democratic votes. Eighteen Democrats backed the bill during a House vote on the same issue last spring.

No Republicans opposed the measure.

The White House has threatened to veto the bill, which strikes at the healthcare law’s mandate that businesses provide insurance.

The legislation is the GOP’s first chance to deliver an anti-ObamaCare bill to the president’s desk. It will now advance to the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised it will see a vote.

Good Job Elaine with your  above link, We needed that too.

Promises do not mean much. Many do not have their Doctor's or healthcare plans that they liked as promised.

In your infinite wisdom, YOU INTERPRETED the circumstances to be a "commitment"!  It wasn't ACTUALLY a commitment!

RFB,  Are you saying that whether or not Constitutionally scheduled midterm elections could be held depended on whether or not it was agreed that impeachment was taken off the table?

If you are saying this, I will have to take issue with this train of thought!

Boehner may have said that HE was taking impeachment off the table, but I'd like to point out that this was BEFORE Obama went crazy with the executive orders!  Anyway, clearly Boehner does NOT represent the American people . . . and THAT is what is most important!

Impeachment is seen by me as the ONLY option, now!

It looks like you have given Obama more power than he deserves!  The Constitution clearly states that there shall be "midterm" elections!  I will take the time to find the exact article and section where this is stated, if you disagree!  You seem to have the mindset that this POS in the white house can simply declare Martial Law whenever things are not going his way . . . which amounts to how many times, now?

Declaring Martial law takes away his control of EVERYTHING!  Can't you see that?  The MILITARY takes over!

Obama does not have the power to take away elections!  Why do you insist on giving him so much power?

Name calling doesn't help your "case", either!

We NEED nothing less than a total end of ObummerDON'Tcare. Please do NOT accept a substitute that is just another government problem.

GOP, keep sending in those 400 bills and resending them till it drive BoBo nuts.

Good idea. He may end up signing them so he could get back to golf and his vacations.

Joe Biden On Violence Against Women:   We Have To Keep ‘Punching At It, And Punching At It, And Punching At It’

The audience laughed as he said this.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said that America needs to be “punching” back to combat violence against women during Wednesday’s Democratic debate.

Biden was asked if he would tackle specific issues regarding the #MeToo movement at the beginning of his presidency, if he were to be elected. The former vice president previously sponsored the 1994 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which aimed to protect victims of domestic violence.

The presidential candidate responded to the question about assaulting women by using the phrase “punching” repeatedly, apparently not thinking about the implications of using such a word.

“No man has a right to raise a hand to a woman in anger other than in self-defense, and that rarely ever occurs,” Biden said. “So we have to just change the culture, period, and keep punching at it and punching at it and punching at it. No, I really mean it.”

A few people laughed in the audience as he said this.

Biden added that it is important to pass the Violence Against Women Act, which has passed in the House and held up in the Senate. The former Vice President also suggested that America has to “fundamentally change the culture” of how women are treated, noting that it is “everyone’s responsibility.”

“It’s a gigantic issue, and we have to make it clear from the top, from the president on down that we will not tolerate it,” Biden said. “We will not tolerate this culture.”
