The federal government is cracking down on nonprofit hospitals under ObamaCare in an attempt to prevent harsh collection practices and steep charges for the uninsured.

Newly finalized regulations from the Internal Revenue Service, announced Monday, will require nonprofit hospitals to “take an active role in improving the health of the communities” by making payment methods more fair and making costs more transparent.

For example, nonprofit hospitals are banned from asking for money in patients’ rooms or selling debt to third-party companies unless they make a “reasonable effort” to offer financial assistance. Each hospital must also take steps to improve the health of its community, including a semi-annual evaluation of the area’s “health needs.”

“For hospitals to be tax-exempt, they should be held to a higher standard,” Emily McMahon, a deputy assistant secretary for tax policy at the Department of the Treasury, wrote in a blog post Monday announcing the rules.

The rules come after complaints that some hospitals aggressively sought payments, sometimes in emergency rooms, which the IRS said “highlighted the need for clear rules to protect patients.”

If a hospital fails to follow the new rules, it could lose its tax-exempt status.

NOBODY IS GOING TO BE UNINSURED . DC WILL STICK US ALL ON MEDICAID AND BANKRUPT THE NATION BEFORE 2016 , UNLESS AN HONORABLE CONGRESS STOPS IT .

OH! Didn't you hear during the Nov lead up that The Boner and McConnell were going to help this Nation get rid of or defund Obamycrapcare? OH! Sorry they gave the FIRST BLACK MuSLIMe SYMPATHIZER everything he wanted and to hell with the people we want to keep getting our goodies.

This is what happens when you take money from the Govt. That is why they want to control our health care. So they can control us.

Each hospital must also take steps to improve the health of its community, including a semi-annual evaluation of the area’s “health needs.”

??

The patients themselves tell a hospital about their health needs. Are hospitals now supposed to hire people to go out into the community and ask them "What are your health needs?"

There are some really interesting comments on the Hill site.

New rules=new illegal laws by administrative fiat.

They couch their words in kind sounding rhetoric, but let us not forget the IRS cares nothing for the people it is claiming to defend.  This is not about "helping the community", The IRS doesn't care if we live or die.  They want to gain control over as much as possible, and once they do gain control in the name of "helping" they will expand their power further over nonprofits, limitlessly.

they are Obama's ss gestapho welcome to the communist nation of obama

"Each hospital must also take steps to improve the health of its community, including a semi-annual evaluation of the area’s “health needs.” "

Sounds like bureaocrat(sp) reasoning.  The HOSPITAL learns of the community needs directly from the needy!   The people who come through the door.  Those who utilize the E.R., and those who arre admitted through the 'normal' channels.

Additionlly, they are trtying (successfully) to destroy those who CAN pay by taking away the 'tax exempt' status.  They (hospitals) will simply RAISE RATES!  That's the nature of an EXCISE TAX, which the 'income' tax is.  A tax that may be passed on to someone else.  Now who can WE pass it on to?

Did we not fight a Revolution related to unfair taxes??? Boy , our Founders are roiling in their graves!

Fair and transparent?? Really they want fairness and transparency?? How about starting down this path by the IRS stopping its lying about the lois lerner emails and produce them?? How about letting the people know that they are the federal reserves lap dogs?? How about  you being transparent and letting people know who you really work for??

"We have in this country one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known.  I refer to the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Banks.  Some people think the Federal Reserve Banks are U.S. government institutions.  They are not government institutions.  They are private credit monopolies; domestic swindlers, rich and predatory money lenders which prey upon the people of the united States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign customers.  The Federal Reserve Banks are the agents of the foreign central banks.  The truth is the Federal Reserve Board has usurped the Government of the United States by the arrogant credit monopoly which operates the Federal Reserve Board."  [Congressman Louis T. McFadden, Chairman of the House Banking & Currency Committee, speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, June 10, 1932]

"In the united States we have, in effect, two governments....We have the duly constituted Government....Then we have an independent, uncontrolled and uncoordinated government in the Federal Reserve System, operating the money powers which are reserved to Congress by the Constitution."  [Congressman Wright Patman, Chairman of the House Banking & Currency Committee, speech on the House floor, 1967]

Rules were made to be broken. No real American will comply with any unconstitutional rules. As far as the IRS, they have set many precedents for us to use against them. Like using taxpayer money for umbrellas, yet a self employed individual can't deduct out of pocket medical expenses unless it is more than 7.5% of income.

The IRS has ruled themselves a farce through their own actions. I lost my emails. My computer crashed and I can't find those receipts. However they do exist. If you can do it so can I Mr. IRS.

That is the type of attitude I have toward the IRS. Dish it out. Better be able to take it. All kinds of it too.

Ellis,

"...attitude I have toward the IRS."

Try this on for size:

When the IRS sends me a "Notice of Tax Due", I write across the letter, "Refused for Cause Without Dishonor - Fraud".  I send a letter with it stating that their notice is fraud, not signed pursuant to 26USC 6065.

They sent me a letter that section was for "taxpayers only".  I replied that the operative word within the section is "any", and that's it for the year. I require them to sign as such to establish a dispute of material facts to go after them.

26USC 6065

Except as otherwise provided by the Secretary, any return, declaration, statement, or other document required to be made under any provision of the internal revenue laws or regulations shall contain or be verified by a written declaration that it is made under the penalties of perjury.

Gohmert: Dems Will Drag Out Impeachment — Try To Get ‘Best Socialist’ Nominated For President

During an appearance on Huntsville, AL radio’s WVNN on Thursday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) offered his best assessment of what House Democrats were trying to accomplish with their impeachment efforts.

Gohmert told WVNN’s “The Jeff Poor Show” impeachment could tie up the Democratic Party’s presidential campaign efforts but predicted Democrats would use the occasion to nominate “the best socialist” they can.

“They would lose in the Senate,” Gohmert said on impeachment. “And besides that, the entire time it was on trial in the Senate, the Democrats who are running for president wouldn’t be allowed to campaign. That’s in the Constitution. They wouldn’t be able to campaign. I just can’t imagine them wanting to do that because if they send it to the Senate, they have now perfectly set up the scenario of 1996, where they will reassure Donald Trump is reelected as president. They don’t want to do that. They’re probably going to drag this thing out as long as they possibly can … through Iowa, through primaries — try to get the best socialist they can to be nominated.”

“Then just end up and say, ‘Now we’re close enough to the general election. We’ve thrown mud at the president through the House,’” he continued. “What they’re really doing — they’re using taxpayer funds to campaign against Trump. That’s all this is — a campaign fund that taxpayers are paying for in order to try to throw mud at the president. I’ll be surprised if they have that vote, but I can’t imagine they want to set up this president for reelection by having a trial in the Senate where they lose.”
