TRAIN WRECKS, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE: Jonathan Gruber reminds us why we hate Obamacare

An important point has been buried in the avalanche of commentary about Jonathan Gruber’s indictment of the electorate as intellectually deficient. The “father of Obamacare,” as he was known in his salad days, inadvertently acquitted nearly half of us with his reference to “the stupidity of the American voter.” The professor’s condescending comments can only apply to those people who actually believed the empty promises our President made on behalf of his health care “reform” law. A large plurality of the voters always knew that Obama, his congressional accomplices, and creepy little hirelings like Jonathan Gruber were lying to us.

As for the voters who believed all the misrepresentations, they were more credulous than stupid. Though it was obvious to millions of us that the ironically named Affordable Care Act was never going to increase access to care while also improving quality and decreasing cost, Obama’s supporters thought he was a “post-partisan” politician who could be trusted. They failed to subject his implausible claims to serious scrutiny and therefore missed what was wrong with the rosy picture he was painting. It is these voters who should be most insulted by Gruber’s remarks. It is their naïveté that the President and his co-conspirators cynically exploited.

Inevitably, some of these voters have finally opened up their eyes, and they are not at all happy with what they see. Among them is Burke Beu, a lifelong Democrat who recently described his rude awakening in the Wall Street Journal: “I voted for Barack Obama in 2008, then lost my job in the Great Recession… I voted for President Obama again in 2012, then received a cancellation notice for my health insurance.” And he has not been taken in by White House propaganda concerning the source of his employment and insurance travails. He places the blame precisely where it belongs: “This was due to Obamacare, the so-called Affordable Care Act.”

Regarding Gruber, Beu reacts with understandable outrage: “Now we learn in videos that came to light this week that Jonathan Gruber, MIT economist and a key architect of the Affordable Care Act, proudly relied on his perceived ‘stupidity of the American voter’ as the basis for designing ObamaCare.” And, the good professor’s opinion notwithstanding, Beu is intelligent enough to know that this snide comment is aimed at all of the voters: “Such comments, along with the program’s notoriously dysfunctional website and false assurances that people can keep their previous health plans, are insults to every citizen regardless of party.”

I HOPE CONGRESS STOPS GRABBING THEIR ANKLES AND BENDING OVER FOR BARRY . THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN ON THIS ISSUE , SO ITS TIME TO GET RID OF IT AND GO BACK TO COMMON SENSE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL .
This Obamacare should be null and void. Built by the lying commie Ivy League Elites (Harvard a bastion of bolshevak idealogy). They have never heard of common sense, just smoke and mirrors deceptive theories. With contempt for the working private sector middle class. The Hollywood media in bed with the government against its citizens. Open up the health insurance industry cross state lines and let US pick and pay for our own healthcare.

It is not just naïveté that keeps people from seeing the truth.  Just today a friend of many years got into a huff when the subject turned around to politics and Obama.  She stated, I not only like Obama, I love Obama.  I said good for you but you might feel differently when the truth comes out.

I tried to avoid the topic as I know she refuses to hear the truth.  She kept saying, "You sound like Fox News".  I tried to explain my research goes far beyond Fox but she would not listen to facts.  She cut the conversation short and hung up.

I love my friend and know she is an intelligent woman, but she is stubborn to a fault. Even if I disagree with someone, I am willing to listen to their argument and will research what they say.  This woman has written books and worked in a library, so she knows how to do research but refuses.  It's like God forbid someone should burst her bubble.  Too bad, because one day it will all come out and she will be kicking herself big time.  I just hope it is not too late to save the country.

"They" are so totally brainwashed, have no argument to defend themselves with, and can only go on attack.   They can be" learned", and still cannot grasp the Truth, as it is bad, with a capital "B".       To do any research would inform her, and then ,she might be faced with the Truth, which they simply cannot face.     They truly live in a Bubble of Ignorance.      Socialism is an easy sell to the uniformed.     A bunch of idealistic crap, having no place in the real World, only causes massive death, everywhere it exists.

@Jo Gonzalez,

It truly is brain washing based on the same talking points issued by the WH. When you think of how journalist in Russia, China, Cuba, Germany, etc. risked their lives and/or freedom to investigate and expose corruption.   We have sunk to a new low as American journalist are just roll over and play dead like the well trained lap dogs they have become.  It is a sad state of affairs when you just surrender your freedom without even a whimper. Disgusting and disgraceful!

Carolan, you are so correct.     Our MSM just dishes out lie, after lie, just like Obama.  They are acting as if "Goober" doesn't exist.    Maybe he will disappear!!      They are given their Propaganda daily, fed straight to them by Valerie Jarrett, more than likely.             In Germany, at least, Goebbels had enough testicular fortitude, to call his group "The Ministry of Propaganda".      Ours, are a bunch of cowardly "Yes Men" posing as Journalists.     Many good people on the Front Lines previously, went through true hardship, and real danger to report the News, when there was News. Now we're fed Liberal pablum.

2Tim Ch 3 explains a lot as does Revelations...my sister is the same way....cannot believe that we grew up in the same family...

I get frustrated with friends who say they don't even bother to research anything. "Oh, it'll all work oiut", "This is America, nothing bad will happen", "That's what we have politicians for....to keep the president from doing anything bad".  Frankly, I'm to the point that I think they DESERVE whatever comes down the pike because they choose to intentionally be ignorant. Sometimes it's all I can do to refrain from a Dinozzo head slap:

Remember the Forest Gump saying, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get"? Everyone who suports obama want to eat the chocolates as long as someone else is paying for it.

This bill based on fraud and it should be voided and asap.  To have a President lie over and over again.  Plus the liberals knew all along it was lies.  Yet they voted to please this man.  GIve me a break - you screwed the people of this nation and continue to.  Fraud charges should be filed against every single one who voted this crap in.

Jon Goober is Barry's kind of peoples....

Gohmert: Dems Will Drag Out Impeachment — Try To Get ‘Best Socialist’ Nominated For President

During an appearance on Huntsville, AL radio’s WVNN on Thursday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) offered his best assessment of what House Democrats were trying to accomplish with their impeachment efforts.

Gohmert told WVNN’s “The Jeff Poor Show” impeachment could tie up the Democratic Party’s presidential campaign efforts but predicted Democrats would use the occasion to nominate “the best socialist” they can.

“They would lose in the Senate,” Gohmert said on impeachment. “And besides that, the entire time it was on trial in the Senate, the Democrats who are running for president wouldn’t be allowed to campaign. That’s in the Constitution. They wouldn’t be able to campaign. I just can’t imagine them wanting to do that because if they send it to the Senate, they have now perfectly set up the scenario of 1996, where they will reassure Donald Trump is reelected as president. They don’t want to do that. They’re probably going to drag this thing out as long as they possibly can … through Iowa, through primaries — try to get the best socialist they can to be nominated.”

“Then just end up and say, ‘Now we’re close enough to the general election. We’ve thrown mud at the president through the House,’” he continued. “What they’re really doing — they’re using taxpayer funds to campaign against Trump. That’s all this is — a campaign fund that taxpayers are paying for in order to try to throw mud at the president. I’ll be surprised if they have that vote, but I can’t imagine they want to set up this president for reelection by having a trial in the Senate where they lose.”
