The City of Oakland agreed to pay violent #Occupy thug Scott Olsen, the founder of “I Hate the Marines.com” website, for injuries he suffered at an #Occupy riot in Oakland in 2011.
The Guardian reported:
The City of Oakland has agreed to pay $4.5m to Scott Olsen, a marine corps veteran who was critically injured by city police during Occupy demonstrations, his attorneys announced on Friday.
Olsen, 26, sued the Oakland police department after being hit in the head by a police projectile during a chaotic October 2011 protest. He was admitted to a hospital in critical condition and suffered a fractured skull, broken neck vertebrae and brain swelling.
The city settled the suit rather than take the case to trial.
But as reported in 2011—
The cops were innocent.

Extortion by any other name is still...EXTORTION!
Too bad he didn't die - Oswald isn't the only ex marine
I have been arguing with some of the Occupy/Anonymous crowd via the internet for the last few months, and in doing so I have learned a little more about how they operate.
I told them that they will NOT be welcomed if they show up for Operation American Spring, being held in DC. The reason is simple... OAS is going to be a peaceful, yet forceful action event with a non-violence policy throughout. This automatically leaves them out of any chance of getting an invitation. OAS is about restoring Constitutional rule of Law, NOT to create anarchy and chaos (complete disorder and confusion). Anarchy is the end-game of Occupy, Anonymous, and all the Anarchos on the planet. Here's just a few... Anarcho-Communism, Anarcho-Syndicalism, Individualist-Anarchism, Socialist-Anarchism (which is considered the same as a Libertarian-Socialist). Plus, there is Anarcho-Capitalism, Libertarian-Anarchism, and even Anarcho-Primitivism. For clarity, a person should go to Wiki-Pedia to learn more about Anarchy, I must warn you first... The Author states that 'most' Anarchist's are non-violent. This is baloney! They also claim that only a 'few' of the Anarchos are violent, which is more baloney. The general idea for these groups (Anon,Occupy,Anarchists) is they want to take over the banking system, then take the money that the banks have and just give it to all of us. Sounds just Peachy until you start thinking about how you will keep your share of the money from being stolen from you. Plus they want to fire all Politicians, do away with all political leadership positions, and put our Military out of business. Then by spreading some magic fairy-dust all over us, we will all then be free to live the life that we choose with no boundaries. Sounds pretty cool until you stop to actually think about the practicality of it all. Then reality crashes the party and you end up spending your very shortened life trying to keep free-ranging bad guys from stealing your money, food, medicine, water, firearms, Wife, Girlfriend, Daughter, etc, and then put a bullet (probably one of yours) in your head and move on to the next peaceful Anarchy supporters house and do it all again.
Anyway, after many conversations I suggested a compromise. I suggested they come without wearing those stupid masks, bring no weapons, and NOT start any trouble, then we would welcome them. However, most of them thought that asking them to NOT wear the mask was asking too much. They didn't like it when I said that the mask issue was a no-brainer because the ONLY reason anyone needs to need a mask is to hide their identity. Operation American Spring is not a secret. We actually want Politicians to know we are coming, and why we are coming. And we are going as honest hard-working tax-paying Patriot Americans and have no need to hide our faces. We are WE THE PEOPLE, and we want the Nation to see the coming together of all Freedom Loving Americans of all Colors, Financial brackets, Political affiliations, and Religions, to start the process of restoring our Constitution and do some over-due political house cleaning, from both political parties, and starting from the top and work our way down. OAS is a movement of pride. Yes, we are unabashedly proud to be American, but lately our Country has been corrupted and it's up to We The People to fix things. We can no longer depend on our politicians.
Please join us in DC on May 16th. Then for those of you that can manage to stay longer, say a month or longer, we would love to have your support. The 16th is just the beginning of Operation American Spring.
If you cannot attend, please pray for those that of us that will be there.
For God and Country!
To bad he did not die.
That statement is way over the top. The police violence is way over the top. The payout is way over the top.
But, obviously the city thought that a jury of fellow citizens might award a greater payout---that is an admission that establishment government force has been turning We the People away from their oppressive rulers. A jury would likely side with a fellow citizen instead of the city police...
I thought the tea party wanted to get rid of establishment oppression and slavery to taxes, yet you wish for a protester to die? Perhaps you ought to go out and protest in the line of fire instead of poking at a computer keyboard... everywhere, everywhere I look there are people who simple do not make any sense from one minute to the next!
They are just punks who don't believe in the system.
You do believe in the "system." What about returning government to the restraints of the Constitution?
Stop saying Oakland paid. It's the residence of Oakland whose taxpayer dollars is paying for this. 4.5 million dollars being paid to a thug, who by the way is out there on the streets inciting riots, rather than being used for your child's education. Oakland, you deserve what you voted for.
If he was involved with the occupy movement he was NEVER a marine , he was probably kicked out on a dishonorable discharge , marines are not traitors to their country , as are ALL demonrat b--t--ds .
A visit to Oakland will reveal about 12 different languages being spoken. Drugs and prostitutes are everywhere. The biggest employer is the welfare and unemployment office.
