Democrats eye minimum wage increase as key issue in 2014 gubernatorial elections

Democrats looking to make gains in the 2014 gubernatorial elections are using a possible minimum wage increase as a way to win support among voters, following a wave of protests on the issue this year.

While Republican governors are expected to campaign on issues such as the rocky rollout of ObamaCare and nationwide discontent with Washington, Democrats seeking to unseat them are lobbying for an wage increase in the early stages of their campaigns, the Associated Press reports.

Democrats across the political spectrum have lobbied for a higher minimum wage this year, after Obama got the ball rolling on the issue by calling for an increase in his February budget speech. Since then, union-organized demonstrations in front of profitable mega-chains such as Wal-Mart and McDonald's have kept it in the public eye.

avoidance .... if they can create enough chaos all the Patriots will die off, give up, move away or just bow to the pressure.   Which one are you ?     My thoughts?   Give me liberty or give me death !

I've been watching several places where "expats" are moving.   Guess what ??    They're trying to CHANGE those places to be what the US is today.   I'm getting fed up with even looking to see if there is any place where people aren't bitchin about nature and trying to do the LIBERAL thing and change it.

I am here to die trying !!!!!!

The answer is quite simple.    Send 12 to 30 million criminal illegal aliens home.   Send the "legal" alien workers home!    Immediately require all  on unemployment comp and disability to actively seek any "reasonable" work they can do; or do without.    Let competition set wages, not the subsidies!    Clean out the czars & regulatory agencies and let people go to work.   Fund unemployment & comp with tariffs (tax) on foreign produced goods, instead of citizen taxation!    Just a few of many reasons to despise progressives & rinos who are destroying this country!

November unemployment was 19.7 million (12%) using a 12 year (1997/2008) average 66.54% workforce to population (246.587million) ratio and 144.396million employed.   11 million on benefits, means 11 million aren’t even on unemployment benefits!    Considering those workers were employed @ 34.4 hours, not 40, another equivalent 20.215 million (12.2%) jobs are lost due to short work weeks.

Every politician who voted in their fake "budget deal" with a poison pill for the jobless needs to be FIRED!   We must fund and immediately start fixing "unemployment!     We must also take whatever is needed to fund it specifically out of any new agencies or legislation since 2008, and include zero funding for any "muslim" project, war, etc!

Most of the general population do not see the validation of such an extreme increase in their wages ! They would make more sense if they were reasonable about the amount !

The democrats only care about themselves. Take for instance the social security issue. This year, they came up with 1.5% increase. When things have gone up 300% like gas and other utilities, they came out with this kind of COLA. We are falling behind every year, soon we will be back to Jimmy Carter days. I do not hear any upheaval from the media. The only I hear is: It is so great to be with Obama and his cronies, while the bottom of the barrel is falling apart at seams.

Don't forget the very excessive .2% increase in retired military pay while they are all living high off the hog in Washington.

It is going to be up to us to keep the focus on the atrocities of the health care law. The only media we have is talk radio. We need to figure out how to bypass the liberal media since the so called Republicans will not.

Both parties will forget about the military pay cut that was in the last budget.

Remember when Caesar gathered all the gold to buy the army and prevent overthrow? Here we go again!!!

Oren,

Your right... I keep forgetting.

I say let them raise it soon, before elections so more people lose their jobs and pay higher prices for products some will lose some gov benefits, like welfare, food stamps, subs ties for insurance, pay higher taxes and more for consumer products.  We all suffer but let the people see what the dems are doing.  Play their own damned game.

Americans here is the problem we face, Employer have to make a profit in order to stay in business this is true. But the employers seem to for get how they get the profits their company made, off the backs of the workers, a wise employer would say to their employee's. I want to make you a partner in the company, and when my profits reach last years profits and exceed them. Then I will give you half of the profits that were made above the profits of last year. Because think about it, it makes the company more profit than the year before and it gives the employee and incentive to be more productive, this concept is not new and dose work. raising minimum wage is not the answer. All this will do is raise the cost of everything else, keeping everything out of reach of every one. (You know what I have said is the truth)

OMG!!! Ruth Bader Ginsburg Voted Best Real-Life Hero At MTV Awards

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Monday was crowned the best real-life hero at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The 86-year old judge — whose 2015 biopic The Notorious RBG help cement her as a cultural icon among Liberals — beat out tennis star Serena Williams, WWE wrestler Roman Reigns, and comedian Hannah Gadsby to take him the award.

Though it wasn’t a clean sweep for Ginsburg last night.

The RGB documentary lost the “Best Fight” category for “Ruth Bader Ginsburg vs. Inequality” to “Captain Marvel vs. Minn-Erva.”

The justice was absent from the ceremony in Santa Monica, California.

Last December, Ginsburg had surgery to remove cancerous growths on her left lung. She was released from the hospital in New York four days later and recuperated at home.

Earlier this year, Ginsburg missed three days of arguments, the first time that’s happened since she joined the court in 1993. Still, she was allowed to participate using court briefs and transcripts.

Ginsburg has had two previous bouts with cancer, in 1999 and 10 years later.

Flashback: Ruth Bader Ginsburg: A Pregnant Woman Is Not A ‘Mother’

Celebrated liberal U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg argued in an opinion released Tuesday that a pregnant woman is not a “mother.”

“[A] woman who exercises her constitutionally protected right to terminate a pregnancy is not a ‘mother’,” Ginsburg wrote in a footnote, which in turn responded to another footnote in the 20-page concurring opinion by Justice Clarence Thomas in the Box v. Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky Inc. case.

As Breitbart News’ legal editor Ken Klukowski reported, the case concerned a law signed by then-Governor (now Vice President) Mike Pence of Indiana in 2016, which required that the remains of an aborted fetus (or baby) be disposed of by cremation or burial. The law also prohibited abortion on the basis of sex, race, or disability alone.

The Court upheld the first part of the law, but declined to consider the selective-abortion ban until more appellate courts had ruled on it.

In his lengthy opinion — which delighted pro-life advocates, and distressed pro-choice activists — Thomas wrote that “this law and other laws like it promote a State’s compelling interest in preventing abortion from becoming a tool of modern-day eugenics.” He traced the racist and eugenicist beliefs of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, and warned that the Court would one day need to wrestle with abortion as form of racial discrimination.

In a footnote, Thomas attacked Ginsberg’s dissenting opinion, which argued the Court should not have deferred to the legal standard used by the litigants in the lower courts, but should have subjected the Indiana law to a more difficult standard instead, since it impacted “the right of [a] woman” to an abortion.

Ginsburg cited no legal authority for her claim that a pregnant woman is not a “mother.” The claim that a fetus is not a child is central to pro-choice arguments.
